A tweet from Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will feature exclusive content for the current and next gen PlayStation platforms, the PS3 and PS4.
The image above was tweeted by Hideo Kojima at the ongoing PS4 event where you can clearly see “Exclusive content for PlayStation platform” at the bottom of the TV screen.
The full text on the screen reads:
- Prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
- Takes place in 1975 after Peace Walker and nine years before The Phantom Pain
- Multiple missions with central story mode and Side-Ops missions
- Exclusive content for PlayStation platform
- Spring 2014
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is an “entry experience” to the full Metal Gear title, The Phantom Pain. Hideo Kojima, creator of the iconic series, has explained that “The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine have allowed me to tell the new story in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”
Ground Zeroes sets players the daunting task of infiltrating a Cuban prison camp, as part of a daring rescue mission. Advances in Fox Engine have allowed Kojima Productions to introduce a large, open world environment, as well as dynamic time of day cycles and weather changes, which will affect the way in which missions play out. These new features play key roles in the Ground Zeroes story, while at the same time setting the stage for The Phantom Pain.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is scheduled for a Spring 2014 release, coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
